The Fibromyalgia and Central Nervous System Symposium

The Fibromyalgia and Central Nervous System Symposium was a great success. Eighteen medical professionals gathered in Salem, Oregon, home to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association, for two days, September 9 and 10, 2006 to share their most recent FM scientific research findings. Dr. Robert Bennett of the Oregon Health and Sciences University and a leading fibromyalgia researcher, moderated this prestigious meeting. A couple of meeting highlights include:
  1. An
  2. opening presentation by Dr. Stephen Katz, Director of the National Institutes of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Skin Diseases on past, present and future FM research funding. His talk assured the audience that the NIH is very interested in continuing to fund and support fibromyalgia scientific research.
  3. Doctors Dan Heffez
  4. and Michael Rosner gave updates regarding the connection between neurological abnormalities, including cervical spinal cord compressions and Chiari malformations in the etiology of patients diagnosed with FM.
  5. Presentations
